Hip Replacement in the Young

With improvement in the bearing surfaces of the total hip replacement, the expected life of total hips have increased. New bearing materials like ceramic and oxidized zirconium have reduced the wear rate of the modern hip replacement implants.  

In young patients with good bone stock, these implants are expected to last upto 30 years. Although survival of the implant is based on multiple factors yet current implants are lasting longer than ever. In the past total hip replacement was discouraged in very young patients. With increased longevity of the implants younger patients also can undergo hip replacement if needed with less chances of revision in the coming years.
