Total Hip Replacement

Total hip replacement surgery, also called hip arthroplasty, involves the replacement of a damaged or worn-out hip joint with an artificial implant. This transformative procedure has become increasingly popular in India, offering a new lease on life for individuals suffering from painful hip conditions.

Total hip replacement only performed when severe hip joint damage is diagnosed that can be caused by conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, or fractures. Top Orthopaedic surgeons only suggest Total Hip replacement surgery after knowing the extent of pain, loss of function, and the impact of the condition on the patient.

A total hip replacement (total hip arthroplasty) consists of replacing both the acetabulum and the femoral head while hemiarthroplasty generally only replaces the femoral head. Hip replacement in India is currently the most successful and reliable orthopedic operation with 97% of patients reporting improved outcome even after 10 years.

There are different types of hip implants available in Delhi metal-on-plastic, ceramic-on-plastic, and metal-on-metal. Dr.Simon Thomas completely diagnose the patient’s conditions before choosing the implant.
